Join industry leading and award winning Marine Dynamics for an adventure of a life-time as you get up close and personal with a variety of shark species in the waters of Gansbaai, South Africa. Our on board Marine Biologist and expert crew will educate you on all the species you encounter and ensure that your trip with us is a life-changing experience. You might also be fortunate to spot the rest of our Marine Big 5 – whales, dolphins, seals and penguins, together with incredible seabirds. We are Fair Trade Certified, live by our motto of ‘Discover and Protect’ and work together with the Dyer Island Conservation Trust. Marine Dynamics is involved in shark research which includes shark fin identification and tagging and tracking the Great White shark. We are only 2 hours drive from Cape Town along a scenic route through the Overberg area. The trip includes an educational briefing, breakfast or lunch; refreshments on board; warm soup and bread on return; towels, clean wetsuits and goggles. Guests are also encouraged to visit our African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary after their trip, free of charge. Professional video footage is available to purchase after your trip.

Q What should I bring?

• Swimsuit/bathing costume is very important. This will be worn underneath your wetsuit while diving.
• Warm clothes as it gets colder out at sea than on land.
• Camera, sunscreen and a hat/cap in summer or a beanie in winter.
• Please use anti-seasick medication well in advance if you are prone to motion sickness.

Q How long is this tour?

The trip is 8-10 hours in total, therefore it is a full day tour. Time spent on sea is 2-4 hours, depending on shark activity and weather conditions.

Q Do I need any dive certification?

No. The dive itself is very easy and no previous dive experience is needed. No oxygen tanks are provided as your head is above the surface the entire time. When a shark comes by the cage, you hold your breath and go down to have a look at the shark through your goggles that will be provided.

Q I can't swim. Does this mean I cannot participate in this activity?

No. You are in a cage with other people and the cage is attached to the boat. There are bars inside the cage where you can hold on to.

Q What happens if the weather is bad and the boat cannot go out?

In the event that a trip gets cancelled due to bad weather, a full refund will be given, or the guest can re-schedule. Our trips are weather dependent, therefore trip times can only be confirmed the afternoon before the trip. Guests will be contacted.
